I find that the only way to address the instability in the Middle East is for us to leave Iraq and act as honest brokers treating all countries equally. No country in that region should be told their right to exist trumps all others. If we continue down that road, it will be at our very peril. more »

No, Steve Breen it is not me who should be shamed, it is you. You are what is wrong with this country. Tonight, most likely an innocent Iraqi child is dying a horrible death and you think that is funny? Most likely today a soldier died a horrible death and you think that is funny? more »

While some may say that I am unfairly targeting Democrats such as Clinton and Obama, we have to remember that last November; we were told things would change in relation to Iraq. So far from where I sit, nothing has changed. In fact, I feel that it’s getting worse. more »

At the very opening of his question and answer period, Columbia’s president, Lee Bolligner said to the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, "Mr. President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator." Dare I say that is exactly how President George W. Bush is seen by many within the Arab world, the world in general and by many in this country that are distraught knowing that over one million innocent Iraqis are now dead? more »

It is time for our government to represent our needs as a people. If this editorial should inspire you to take action in some way, please let it be for you to call your elected officials to cut off the aid to Israel. We simply cannot afford it. Tell them of your needs and of how you have suffered throughout the years. more »

More than likely should a blow-back occur and I do feel it is only a matter of time we shall see one, the political elites will be sheltered. It will be you and me who will become its next victims. Both innocent Iraqis and innocent Americans have had and will continue to have blood spilled as a result of this Ponzi scheme. more »

As I was thinking of these drivers licenses that Spitzer wants to give out to illegals, I thought to myself, we lost our country only to wake up to read where it will be legals that are being monitored. I will put it bluntly; have American citizens become second class people within their own country? more »

In winding down the Bush administrations stranglehold of this country, I really feel that a vast majority of Americans are thirsting and craving for a real change. If the Republicans wind up choosing Giuliani as their candidate, we will all be in for more of the same, if not worse. Seeing how we have just heard that over one million Iraqis have died and continue to die as a result of the Iraq War via the LA Times, I do suppose many who have opposed this war are seeing red by now. As many more of our soldiers die in this war, it is heightening people’s emotions. Many feel this war could have been handled differently had Kerry stuck to his guns and challenged that outcome. Maybe, just maybe Senator Kerry as president would have ended it. But, we will never know. more »

To the American people, one million innocent Iraqis blood is now on your hands. It is time to hold both Bush and Cheney responsible. Your silence is deafening. more »

Whatever decision I make will be personal. However, I will continue to be independent in my prose and will never adhere strictly to one political doctrine. The only thing I will state publicly is that I am an American first and foremost. How I wish most of our elected officials at the federal level felt that same way and in the same light. We would all be the better for it. more »

I will continue to speak out against this heinous war, and I will continue to pray that a leader emerges that will end this carnage. A true leader, who has morals, truly knows and understands the teachings of God, and one who has true compassion and has done so in both words and deeds. I also pray that a leader comes forth who truly knows the harm we have caused you and has the courage of conviction to end it. more »

Lastly, Mr. Boehner, by saying the loss of life is a small price in relation to this war, you owe an apology to our military and the family members left behind to grieve a lifetime. You owe the same apology to the innocent Iraqis devastated by this war. And incidentally by using uncertain words like “if” you have undercut the military. Good job, Mr. Boehner. more »

As Congress continues to exhibit their verbal diarrhea deciding what to do about Iraq, each and every American should tell them, the time to leave Iraq is now. This was and still is an illegal occupation of a sovereign country and the sooner each and every one of us wraps our brain around that one, the longer this will drag out. What to do with Iraq? That question only shows our hubris. more »

I do think that the only significant moment would be his capture. I want for his victims to find a sense of closure as he is tried in our courts, convicted and ultimately faces his just punishment. Maybe then he can fulfill the very definition of a martyr, but for now, he is a coward. more »

To the 2,986 who lost their lives on 9/11, we a peaceful people do mourn you. We must also mourn 3,773 of our troops have been killed since the war began. At this point, many writers have expressed their outrage at these unending wars and the war in Iraq and we do so in such futility. This country has a myriad of issues to address and more importantly solve. It sure seems that the people are being left behind and all I have to say is leave political parties behind. Perhaps, these bozos in Washington, D.C. will sit up and take notice and for once work on behalf of ‘we the people’. If they don’t they should go find other work. more »

In closing to those polled, what I do suggest is that you demand of your government some heavy diplomatic lifting to iron out your differences with Iran. Tell them they are to send a diplomatic force to Tehran and they do not come home until there is a verifiable peace between both of your nations. To the offending politicians no matter what party who choose to behave badly, all I will say is zip it up and get on with the people’s business. That is what you were elected to do in the first place. Do ‘we the people’ expect perfect politicians? Of course not, but what we crave are ones that are at least trying. more »
