We are forgetting that we are the rapists and the Iraqis are the victims. Until we get that through our thick skulls, this will only exacerbate this civil war. more »

While I am not a fan of military coups, in the interest of national security, one would hope that our military would turn on you, President Bush, Vice President Cheney, outgoing Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and arrest all of you. more »

In the Catholic faith if one sins, they go to confession and ask for forgiveness of ones sins. It is at that point after confessing the sinner receives absolution through penance. I think it is about time that the media looks inwardly, confesses to all of us their many sins and does its fair share of penance. Well that is just my Polly Anna thinking coming out. more »

What I find maddening is the fact that those of us who protested this war right from the start were right. We were right and no one paid attention to us. We were seen as throwbacks of those who marched against Viet Nam in which our patriotic brothers and sisters also dared to speak out against the Johnson and Nixon administrations. more »

As you will see in writing this piece, I do use the shocking details of man’s inhumanity to man in order to reach out to my readers. I have also done so in writing on what has happened to the children of the Congo. I feel it important in order to raise this awareness. more »

There can be no democracy and freedom if the most frail and innocent of any country are being terrorized. I would say that children who are being raped, used as sex slaves, beaten and inflicted with the Aids virus are the victims of terror. Wouldn’t you? more »

In my lashing out directed towards Elliot Spitzer, I titled my piece, “I feel betrayed by Governor-elect, Elliot Spitzer and we must protect Alan Hevesi” That was pretty self-serving of me. I was putting my voice above all others within New York State. Because there are people across New York State that are hurting as E.J. Dionne so rightly points out in his piece. For that, I owe my readers an apology. more »

The only motive I see is that Carville wants the Democratic Party to return in which we suffered defeat after defeat in congress. He has not given us one victory since 1992. That is his record. more »

Are we a perfect country? No, we are not, but there are elected officials, writers, ordinary citizens taking part in this electoral process that are following the words of the late President John F. Kennedy in which he said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country” To those that are at least trying, to help America, I salute you all. more »

As McCain launches his exploratory committee search on whether or not to run for president in 2008, it would be immoral of you to send more troops into Iraq, when clearly they do not want us there to begin with. Now, if you were to call upon President Bush to send those troops into the Congo to stop the repeated rapes of women and children that is clearly where you would find any moral ground in which to run on. more »

We must remember that there are still people who go hungry tonight, are in danger of losing their homes or have lost their homes, are without health care and the list is endless of those who continue to this day to suffer. We all must remember that their needs must come first when the 110th congress is sworn in. more »

I want to remind everyone reading this, that Long Island especially Suffolk County is one of the most conservative places within this country and Democrats are in the majority when it comes to many elected seats. During these past six years when many felt that this country no longer belonged to them, it was Dean’s message during his presidential bid that reminded us all when he said “Take back our country” In this past midterm election, the people did respond to that message. more »

While many express their feelings on various online groups, it has only been a little over three days since we gained control of the House of Representatives and only a day since we gained control of the Senate. I only wish God’s speed to the new Democratic majority, but with a little reminder, we will be watching. What many of us do want is a restoration and new life breathed into the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It is only through the drafting and implementation of those documents that make us uniquely American. more »

Tomorrow we must prove to not only us, but the rest of the world whether or not we are truly the land of the free and the brave. We have got to use our freedom to vote and act bravely to stave off the further erosion of our freedoms. We must stand up for the United States Constitution if it means anything to us and put a halt to its further erosion. more »

On Tuesday’s Election Day we are to hold these people accountable, Peter King, Joe Lieberman, and others that Bush has supported as he has campaigned relentlessly in the last days of these all important elections. In the first congressional district in New York State, we must not even entertain the notion of electing an inexperienced Republican candidate, Italo Zanzi. We need the experience coming from Congressman, Tim Bishop. The same can be said of Republican, Bob Corker who is running against an experienced elected official Harold Ford, Jr. While Corker has been running racist ads, these are the serious issues that he is failing to address. more »

Many like me have had enough of six years of death, destruction, tyranny, lies, sheer hubris in which the most fragile of our society are left to float down the streets of New Orleans. When God gave us free will, those that suffer from these diseases, their brains are literally held prisoner in a body that will not respond to their free thought. I find letting them be held prisoner by these bodies is truly immoral. Medically, we are being held within our own Guantanamo Bay with little or no rights. more »
